Mesogog vs Victor Veloci (Power Rangers vs Dino Squad)

Mesogog, the Uncontrollable Dino Alter-Ego and Nemesis of the Power Rangers Dino Thunder

Victor Veloci, Dinosaur turned CEO of RaptorDyne at odds with the Dino Squad

We're all in agreement that dinosaurs were awesome right? Those giant beasts of the old ruled our Earth millions of years ago but like all good things, the age of the dinos had to come to an end. Unfortunately for these two, they never quite got the memo that you should let go of the past as they work to ensure a new age of the rule of the dinosaurs no matter how many humans are caught in the crossfire. Will Mesogog's psionic powers crush the epoch old Raptor? Or will Mesogog fall victim to Veloci's cunning? It's time to see which Dino Supremacist comes out on top in a DEATH BATTLE!

          Before we Start...


The media researched for this blog is pretty simple. Season 1 and 2 of DinoSquad for Veloci and only the 38 episodes of Power Rangers Dino Thunder for Mesogog, so no Morphing Grid scaling to other unrelated teams that aren't the Ninja Storm Team or the MMPR Team. 

   Background

  Mesogog



Dr. Anton Mercer was a brilliant scientist working on a groundbreaking scientific breakthrough with former Power Ranger Tommy Oliver, when tragedy struck. During one of his experiments, Mercer infused himself with dinosaur DNA causing him to turn into Mesogog for the first time. An alter-ego with plans for complete and utter world domination by reverting everything back to the age of the dinosaurs, to do so Mesogog sent out tyrannodrones (another of Mercer's and Tommy's creations) to assassinate the latter. To ensure that Tommy couldn't escape, Mesogog destroyed the island; bad news being that Tommy escaped while Mesgog got caught in the blast thus killing the dino mastermind once for all.

Except... Mesogog survived the blast and used the destroyed island as his headquarters for his operations as well as using the body of Terrance Smitty (a partner of Tommy) and a woman named Elsa as pawns for his scheme.

Mesogog then soon set his sights after the Dino Gems, artifacts that would give him the ultimate power. Unfortunately for him, three teenagers attending Reefside Highschool got the gems and with some help from their teacher Tommy Oliver transformed into the Power Rangers Dino Thunder to stop Mesogog's evil plans.

Mesogog soon finds out due to sharing a body with Anton Mercer in some Jekyll and Hyde type shenanigans that the doctor had an adopted son, Trent who Mesogog used to become the White Ranger. This backfires on him as Trent as the White Ranger quickly left his side to become a rouge agent before eventually joining the Dino Thunder Team.

After many failures from his monsters and his general, plus putting Lothor in a jar. Mesogog finally managed to free himself from Anton Mercer of whom the latter had been struggling with Mesogog taking over his body,even pleading for Trent to help him take down the dino.

Mesogog with none to oppose him started off his plans for his perfect world to turn humanity into dino-people which the Power Rangers stopped. Unbeknownst to them Mesogog absorbed enough energy from the Dino Gem to become Mesomonster,a form that triumphed the Dino Thunder team including the Triassic and Battilizer form of Connor McKnight. It took the combined energy of the team exhausting the might of their gems to take down the Dino Alter-ego for good this time. With the battle all said and done, Anton Mercer continued his scientific research and maybe this time he won't inject himself with DNA again.

65 million years ago, during the K-Pg Mass extinction, 2 velociraptors that somehow survived 6 million years after they went extinct went into hiding during a cave that somehow shielded them from the extinction. During that time, they somehow both evolved into taking humanoid form and they had a split, one of them accepting the extinction of the dinosaurs and looking forward to Humans on this planet and one who wouldn't stop thinking about the past and making it their life mission to return Earth back to the dinosaurs, that raptor's name was Victor Veloci.

Victor in the year of 2007 managed to make a name for himself by becoming the CEO of RaptorDyne in Boston which he used as a front to pollute the Earth with ooze that turned organisms into prehistoric hybrids. One sample of the ooze got into the waters of Kittery Point, Maine where a group of 5 teenagers and a dog on a school trip were present, turning them into Dinosaur-Human Hybrids. Thankfully, Veloci's former raptor companion Mrs.Moynihan were the kid's teacher and taught them the way of the Dino and also climate Activism to stop Veloci's plans for the betterment of Humanity.

Veloci soon took notice of the individuals strange Dino state and dubbed them perfect dinosaurs and saught after them no matter like the time he pretended to be a hot chick to get a clue on the Perfect Dinosaurs...wait what.

No matter how many times the Raptor tried, he always came up short and The DinoSquad always stopped his plans week by week. Last we saw him he almost had the DinoSquad caught up and then he eventually goofs up and accidentally lets them free as they absolutely barge out of their entrapment. Who knows maybe Veloci is cooking up another plan,, a plan that will for sure catch those Perfect Dinosaurs.

Abilities

Mesogog

Dino-Human Hybrid Physiology

Thanks to the accident, Mesogog gains superhuman strength and speed, being able to contend with master martial artists like Tommy Oliver and Lothor, both of whom are considered some of the best in their field.

Monster Creation

Mesogog has been able to create his own monsters like the time he fired colored beams at a plant that turned into the monster, Jade Gladiator. Jade Gladiator can enlarge himself on his own without the help of machines, can create earthquakes, and can fight on par with the rangers themselves.

Energy Manipulation

Mesogog can fire psionic beams from his eyes which he uses for attacks and or to correct disobedience and failures

Pain Inducement

Speaking of his eye lasers, Mesogog can increase the pain on his victim by shooting beams into their head. Typically used on Elsa and Zeltrax every time a plan of theirs fail or they show disobedience. Mesogog used this on Lothor in their scuffle before sealing him away.

Sealing

In his fight against Lothor, Mesogog ended the fight by firing a psionic beam from his forehead into Lothor which transferred him into a jar for the foreseeable future.

Victor Veloci

Dromaeosaurid Physiology

Veloci as a "Velociraptor" should logically have the abilities of the dinosaur and other dromaeosaurs alike. This would mean Veloci has an enlightened sense of smell, sight, and hearing to be a successful predator during the Mesozoic Era. Veloci also possesses sharp claws to pierce and pin down prey and a bite force of around 4100 Newtons if comparing him to another Dromaeosaur like Deinonychus. 

Also, for some reason, despite the show clearly telling us Veloci is supposed to be a raptor, his dinosaur form is around the same size as people like Max who's a whole freaking T-Rex and Fiona, a Spinosaurus.

Shapeshifting

Veloci can change between his dino and human form willy-nilly at the speed of a fly. He also could just become a bi-pedal dino sometimes like the time he became that form to scare a new employee into joining his Cause. He also has the habit of changing his hands to that of a raptor's for whatever reason, but he just felt like it.

Weaknesses

Mesogog


Despite Mesogog's immense might, his ego is still pretty damn big, which leads to many of his plans failing. He also has the tendency of being abusive to his subordinates when things don't go his way. Heck, it was Mesogog's own ego and confidence of his new Mesomonster powers which eliminated his intellectular mind into one of a beast that had immense strength but none of his smarts that lead to his death from the Dino Thunder Rangers.

While this weakness won't be applicable in this blog due to me using Mesogog after he split from Mercer, the whole series before told us how Mercer was a pain in Mesogog's side being his last shred of humanity which had influence over Mesogog's actions, stopping him from completing plans or even turning himself back into Mercer sometimes.

Victor Veloci



Veloci while being a cunning individual has his faults as well. He routinely gets stuck, tangled, or trapped by everyday things such as mud, pressurized water, to mutant vines. Veloci routinely frustrates his angers out on others when things don't go his way and has an obsession over the DinoSquad that had in the past made him switch plans for the chance of catching them.

Veloci also doesn't have that much combat experience, barely having any minute long confrontation with the DinoSquad before they either scare him off, run away or trap him. Veloci hasn't even won a fight or even come any close to even beating the DinoSquad before.

Verdict



Stats

Stats are an easy category to figure out. Mesogog was the hardest opponent for the Dino Thunder Team, meaning he should be above lesser monsters in the series such as the Horn-Rimmed Monster who can make volcanic eruptions or Megalador who can create a Tsunami powerful enough to destroy Reefside. But all of that isn't as impressive as the Monster Jupitor who can fire a beam strong enough to destroy Jupiter which clocks in at around 478 Yottatons of Tnt. While the feat is an oddity in Dino Thunder, seeing as how Ranger veteran Tommy Oliver is in the season and Mesogog could hande him even in his Black Ranger form, it isn't weird to say that Meogog should definitely be above Tommy's antics in MMPR (Which is further supported by Kira fighting alongside Adam in Once a Ranger and the DT Team fighting alongside Jason and the other MMPR Rangers in Beast Morphers)  of which there are multiple feats there that support Mesogog being at planetary levels of power. Statements such as Goldar who Tommy has fought multiple times before being the strongest soldier of Zedd's army making above races like the Horrid who can survive their planet exploding and the monster Octocreep who at full power could crush the Earth (119 Ronnatons). The Octocreep feat putting Mesogog at Dwarf Star levels of power.

Victor on the other hand doesn't come anywhere close, while his best direct feats are kicking a wooden cabin down and busting through a steel door, they are leagues below the minimum of what Mesogog should be comparable to. The absolute maximum Victor should be scaled to is a feat in episode 1 of the series where a "Mosasaurus" hybrid bit a boat in half which at the high end comes out to only 0.0645 tons of tnt, Mesogog definitely has the strength advantage in spades

Speed is also easy, remember Jupitor? he fired a beam that reached Jupiter in 6 seconds, which clocked in at 433x ftl. This isn't even the best speed feat Mesogog can scale to because in the episode "The Power Transfer Part 1" The MMPR Team traveled to the farthest known galaxy before Lunchtime and considering the timeframe should be past 8 AM and lunch in the US generally starts at 12 PM, the rangers must've travelled at over 21 trillion times the speed of light. Veloci gets the shorthand of the stick being that he at best could be scaled to DinoSquad member Fiona who in the episode "Don't Judge a Dinosaur by its Cover" reacted to lasers shot out by Veloci's henchman which at best only come out to 58.3% the speed of light.

To make matters worse for the poor Velociraptor, Veloci probably downscales from both of these feats as everytime he confronts a member of the DinoSquad, it always ends with him defeated and or they don't actually fight at all. Speaking of not fighting, the DinoSquad never actually engaged with that Mosasaurus hybrid, so it's a bit capricious to say if they are even comparable to him and even if they were, Victor would still downscale as he's definitely below the DinoSquad.

All in all, no matter how you slice it, Mesogog takes stats

Arsenal and Abilities


This one is also super simple, both of them don't have notable things they carry with them, so that rules out arsenal.

Abilities on the other hand are just in Mesogog's favor. Monster creation, Energy manipulation, pain inducement, and sealing compared to Veloci's... lack of abilities. What is he going to do, beat Mesogog in a game of Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader? Veloci just is a normal raptor which is bad when the guy you're fighting has scientific mystical powers.

Mesogog takes this category with ease as his vast abilities from creating monsters to sealing Veloci in a jar would overwhelm the Epoch old Raptor.

Tertiary Factors


Speaking of Smarts, while Victor is definitely cunning being a CEO of a large tech corporation and creating his primordial ooze which can mutate DNA, Mesogog was able to rebuild Smitty into Zeltrax, create a potion to sperate Mercer from himself, and a cannon to supply himself with energy in the two-part finale. Also, the show described Veloci creating the ooze as a period of many years trying to find the perfect formula while Mesogog accomplished his creations in a day or two.

Mesogog is also the better when coming to fights seeing as he actually fought people in the series unlike Veloci and those people being Tommy Oliver and Lothor, master martial artists considered the best in their fields and Mesogog was going toe to toe with them without even breaking a sweat.

Victor isn't completely helpless seeing as he's 65+ million years old, he's been around far longer than Mesogog. Problem is though we don't know what he was doing during those millions of years, from the way the show described it, it seems he's spent those eons perfecting his primordial ooze and not actually training, which if we take that speculation is consistent with his character as he sees humans are genetically and physically inferior, it wouldn't make sense for him to train and or get into fights with a species he sees as inferior.

While Victor may be older, Mesogog is still smarter, has fighting skills, and more combat experience.


Conclusion

Mesogog

Advantages:

Yeah there's no beating around the bush here, Mesogog stomps this one. Victor quite possibly has no meaningful advantages in this fight, he's just a regular ass dinosaur through and through. Mesogog is very much not that, he's a martial artist psionic dinosaur man, you can clearly see who wins here.

While Victor Veloci may have been a cunning individual, he couldn't get over Mesogog's overwhelming strength, vast abilities, and fighting skill! In the end, Victor just lacked the proper Raptotoire needed before Mesogog made him Extinct!

The Winner is Mesogog
